Subject:    Welcome to the Pelham Dodgers -- 2010 13u Pelham Little League Baseball; First Two Games This Weekend

Dear Team:

The league has finalized the 2010 13u Pelham Little League Baseball rosters.  I just got off the telephone with Michael Mutti and I am thrilled to be coaching the Pelham Dodgers this season.  There will be a flurry of activity and many e-mails in the next day or two because the league in which we will be playing -- the Westchester Sound Shore Spring Baseball League -- has only just completed its arrangements and has just made its schedule for this weekend available.  We have two games this weekend.  Please reply to this message and let me know which games your player will make:  (1) Sat., Apr. 17, 12:00 noon - Pelham Dodgers v. White Plains Mets at Delfino Park Field 1, White Plains; (2) Sun., Apr. 18, 2:30 p.m. - Pelham Dodgers v. White Plains Yankees at Delfino Park Field 1, White Plains.

Very quick housekeeping issues -- there is a lot of information.

Although the schedule for this weekend has just been released, we do not yet have a full season schedule.  Since we are playing on full-sized fields, we have limited practice field availability due to use of the High School field by the High School and Middle School baseball teams.  I am working hard to try to arrange practice time and may be practicing this weekend despite our games.  We may be forced to practice on a non-regulation field.  Please stay tuned.

No metal cleats are allowed in the league.  Bats must be drop 3 or less (i.e., no lighter than 3 ounces less than the length of the bat -- so a 31 inch bat cannot be lighter than 28 ounces, etc.)  We are not yet certain if double-barreled bats (circumference 2-5/8ths inches) are permitted, so those who have them may not be able to use them, we just don't know yet.

The uniforms and equipment may be available as early as this evening or tomorrow.  Please stay tuned.

I will be constructing a team Web site as soon as possible.  The Web site and email will be the principal means of communication and should be checked frequently.

We will have a lot of fun -- seven-inning "real" baseball games with base leading steals, dropped third strike runs, pick off plays, regulation pitching mound of 60 feet 6 inches, regulation base paths, pitchers covering first base and backing up third base, good cutoffs and more!

Immediately below is the current version of our roster:

Alpert    Eric
Anzilotti    Robert
Bell    Brett
Brown    Henry
Bruzzese    Nicodemo
Carey    Blair
Case    Brad
Doherty    Kyle
Garcia    Nelson
Johnson    Julian
Matera    Thomas
Mazzaro    Vincent
Nanna    Robert
O'brien    Daniel
Paterra    Anthony
Perez    Jeffery

There will be a lot more information coming as we learn of developments.  Please keep an eye on email.

Best regards,

Blake
