Subject: Tentative - Stay Tuned; Sunday Not Yet Set
Dear Team:
We are trying to avoid a forfeit on Sunday as we only have six or seven players (I have not yet heard from one player). I have been told that we cannot try to add players on our own (either 13 years olds or younger players -- even if the younger players are already playing Pelham Rec baseball this season). We are trying to reschedule the Sunday game for EITHER 12:00 noon in Flint Park in Larchmont or at 5:30 p.m. at Glover Field in Pelham. Please watch your email and the team Web site closely as we try to straighten this out. I do not yet know if we have a forfeit on our hands or if we will be playing at noon or 5:30 on Sunday. Stay tuned. I am trying hard to keep a game alive for this Sunday so as many can play as possible.
As always, this message is being posted to the team Web site located at http://PelhamDodgers.blogspot.com
Best regards,
Blake

No surprise, but the Larchmont Recreation Department hotline (834-4053) reports that although the Turf Field remains open for play today, the baseball fields at Flint Park are closed. We have been rained out as feared.

Dear Team:
The team was terrific in today's game. The rules require roster batting and also require that no player can sit on the bench two innings in a row. Nevertheless, it seems that confusion -- even as seven new players had to enter the field every single inning -- was kept to a minimum! I certainly was proud of how we hit through the entire lineup and made plays in every position on the field every inning.
PLEASE NOTE: No matter what you see anywhere else, here is tomorrow's game information. Pelham Dodgers (visitors) will play L/M Garden Catering (home) at 12:00 noon at Flint Park in Larchmont. Please plan to have your player at the field by 11:00 a.m.
Here are directions to Flint Park, according to the league Web site:
"Take I-95 North. Exit at Exit 17, "Chatsworth Avenue, Larchmont". Make a right at the stop sign at the end of the exit ramp onto Madison Avenue, which becomes Myrtle Boulevard. Make a right at the traffic light onto Chatsworth Avenue. Continue 1/2 of a mile. Make a left at the traffic light onto Boston Post Road (US-1 North). Continue 1/10 of a mile. Make a right onto Bronson Avenue. Continue to the end. Make a left onto Locust Avenue, which leads into the entrance to Flint Park. This is the baseball field at the far back end of Flint Park."
IN CASE OF RAIN
I promise to do everything I can to make a rain call and communicate it by email FIRST and by team Web site as soon as possible tomorrow morning. The weather looks challenging tomorrow. By 10:00 a.m., the chance of rain is now forecast as 90%, so please watch carefully. I have the opposing coach's contact information and the league president's contact information and will be badgering them as early as possible tomorrow morning.

Dear Team:
We have a game scheduled Saturday at Glover Field at 3:00 p.m. against the White Plains A's (please plan to have your player at the field by 2:00 p.m.). As Tim Case has pointed out to me, the league has made a scheduling change on Sunday. We are now scheduled to play L/M - Garden Catering at 12:00 Noon at Flint Park in Larchmont (please plan to have your player at the field by 11:00 a.m.).
Please reply and let me know your player's availability for both games. I will draft the lineups late tomorrow.
We had a nice, productive practice last evening. We warmed up, worked on a play with runners on first and third, took a little infield focused on double plays and had a batting practice.
Weather may be an issue on Sunday, so keep a close eye on your e-mail and on the team Web site.

Dear Team:
The Dodgers looked terrific yesterday. I hope everyone enjoyed it and had the opportunities to play the positions they liked! For your records, the final score was Pelham Dodgers 14, White Plains Mets 5. (I have reported the score to the league.)
Typically I like to have the team at the field about an hour before the game. However, given the fact that there is utterly no free space to warm up at the facility, everyone should plan to be at the field thirty minutes early today (at 2:00 p.m.). Once again, we will start warm-ups on any available strip of grass around the parking lot, tennis courts and the like.
Here are directions to Delfino Field: Delfino Park is located on Lake Street in White Plains, NY and shares the grounds with the Ebersole Ice Rink. Take Hutchinson River Parkway North approximately 10 miles and take Exit "26W / Westchester Ave West / White Plains (I-287 W)" to enter I-287 West. According to the League Web Site, from I-287 West, take Exit 6 (Rt 22 / Broadway), make a left turn at the exit ramp then take the next left onto Broadway. Travel 1/2 mile on Broadway then turn onto Lake Street. Delfino Park will be ahead, about 1/2 mile on the right.
Today's game against the White Plains Yankees should be fun as well. It looks like the weather will be glorious.
As always, this message is being posted to the team Web site located at http://PelhamDodgers.blogspot. com

Blake

Subject: More Games Scheduled; Will Have Uniforms This Afternoon; Field Directions for Weekend Games; Practice Next Week
Dear Team:
A lot more information.
UNIFORMS
My wife will be picking up the uniforms this afternoon. They will be available for pickup this evening between 6:15 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. at 20 Beech Tree Lane, Pelham Manor. For those who can't pick them up tonight, I will have the remainder with me at the team photo session at 10:00 a.m. at Prospect Hill tomorrow. (I will try to arrive early.) I will bring anything left over to the game at 12 noon tomorrow.
ARRIVE AT TOMORROW'S GAME BY 11:30 A.M.
Ordinarily I would like everyone at the field before a game one hour to 45 minutes in advance of game time. Because of the parade and photograph session tomorrow and the fact that the game is in White Plains, I would like to have everyone at the field no later than 11:30 a.m. tomorrow. (Field directions are immediately below.)
DIRECTIONS TO GAME FIELD
Directions: Delfino Park is located on Lake Street in White Plains, NY and shares the grounds with the Ebersole Ice Rink.
IN CASE OF RAIN
I have obtained the contact information for the opposing team's coach and for the league President. In the event of rain, please keep a very close eye on your email. If the game is called due to field conditions, I will announce it via email first. As soon as I can get to an Internet-connected computer, I will update the team Web site. I believe we will get the game in tomorrow. They are calling only for scattered showers tomorrow. The rain tonight is not expected to be that bad.
WEEKEND SCHEDULE FOR PELHAM DODGERS

Sat., Apr. 17, 8:45 a.m. - Meet at intersection in front of Pelham Art Center for Little League Parade.
Sat., Apr. 17, 10:00 a.m. - Team Photograph at Prospect Hill, camera 1

Sun., Apr. 18, 2:30 p.m. - 4:50 p.m. - Game v. White Plains Yankees
PRACTICE WED., APRIL 21 AT 6:30 P.M.
I asked for practice time next week on the high school field. The earliest time the league could give us is 6:30 p.m. due to field use issues. We will have a team practice on Wed., April 21 at Glover Field from 6:30 p.m. until dark (a little after 7:30 p.m.).
As always, this message is being posted to the team Web site located at http://PelhamDodgers.blogspot.com

Dear Team:
Some quick information.
Little League Parade is Saturday morning (rain or shine). Please meet at the intersection in front of the Pelham Art Center in uniform no later than 8:45 a.m. and remember to bring your raffle tickets filled out.
Team photo at Prospect Hill Saturday morning (rain or shine) at 10:00 a.m. in front of Camera 1. Please have your player there promptly and in uniform.
The uniforms came in late yesterday and I will be picking ours up tonight. I will communicate further regarding how I am going to get them to you.
There is a chance of rain tonight and chance of more rain late tomorrow and showers through much of the day on Saturday. Because we will be beholden to information being provided by the Westchester Sound Shore Baseball League regarding field conditions in White Plains, please plan to keep a very close eye on email. I will do my best to post to the team Web site as well, but if I am in the car en route when a decision is made, I may not be able to post to the Web site.
Best regards,
Blake

Welcome to the Pelham Dodgers -- 2010 13u Pelham Little League Baseball; First Two Games This Weekend

Subject: Welcome to the Pelham Dodgers -- 2010 13u Pelham Little League Baseball; First Two Games This Weekend
Dear Team:
The league has finalized the 2010 13u Pelham Little League Baseball rosters. I just got off the telephone with Michael Mutti and I am thrilled to be coaching the Pelham Dodgers this season. There will be a flurry of activity and many e-mails in the next day or two because the league in which we will be playing -- the Westchester Sound Shore Spring Baseball League -- has only just completed its arrangements and has just made its schedule for this weekend available. We have two games this weekend. Please reply to this message and let me know which games your player will make: (1) Sat., Apr. 17, 12:00 noon - Pelham Dodgers v. White Plains Mets at Delfino Park Field 1, White Plains; (2) Sun., Apr. 18, 2:30 p.m. - Pelham Dodgers v. White Plains Yankees at Delfino Park Field 1, White Plains.
Very quick housekeeping issues -- there is a lot of information.
Although the schedule for this weekend has just been released, we do not yet have a full season schedule. Since we are playing on full-sized fields, we have limited practice field availability due to use of the High School field by the High School and Middle School baseball teams. I am working hard to try to arrange practice time and may be practicing this weekend despite our games. We may be forced to practice on a non-regulation field. Please stay tuned.
No metal cleats are allowed in the league. Bats must be drop 3 or less (i.e., no lighter than 3 ounces less than the length of the bat -- so a 31 inch bat cannot be lighter than 28 ounces, etc.) We are not yet certain if double-barreled bats (circumference 2-5/8ths inches) are permitted, so those who have them may not be able to use them, we just don't know yet.
The uniforms and equipment may be available as early as this evening or tomorrow. Please stay tuned.
I will be constructing a team Web site as soon as possible. The Web site and email will be the principal means of communication and should be checked frequently.
We will have a lot of fun -- seven-inning "real" baseball games with base leading steals, dropped third strike runs, pick off plays, regulation pitching mound of 60 feet 6 inches, regulation base paths, pitchers covering first base and backing up third base, good cutoffs and more!
Immediately below is the current version of our roster:
Alpert Eric
Anzilotti Robert
Bell Brett
Brown Henry
Bruzzese Nicodemo
Carey Blair
Case Brad
Doherty Kyle
Garcia Nelson
Johnson Julian
Matera Thomas
Mazzaro Vincent
Nanna Robert
O'brien Daniel
Paterra Anthony
Perez Jeffery
There will be a lot more information coming as we learn of developments. Please keep an eye on email.
Best regards,
Blake
